SAVOR THE SEASON: Christmas Caroling on Saturday, December 14, 2024
The Joyful Noise Carolers will assemble for our annual time together, a tradition since 1998. All** ages are welcome to join – no previous singing experience necessary. We will meet inside StoryPoint, 8135 Beechmont, 45255 (formerly known as New England Club) around 5 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2024. After quickly organizing recipient cookie plates** and signing cards, we will sing for the StoryPoint residents at dinner. After that we’ll likely go sing at several other locations, possibly including MWPC member homes (let Steve know of a home you think we might want to visit.) Around 7 PM we will be done and those interested may choose to head out for pizza and more fellowship at a local establishment. If you have questions, please call or email Steve Long.

YouTube of the group singing Silent Night in the NEC dining room – check out the residents and staff enjoying the experience, including some singing along! 🙂
We are sorry we couldn’t get to all the MWPC households we wanted to visit. If the full group missed you on December 19th, we’ll hope to see you before/after in one of our Joyful Noise Crowd visits or maybe during Advent 2022?
Covid-19 could not curb the caroling! In 2020 the Line and Long families used bullhorns and voices to sing to various NEC households from outside their residences and then came around to the NEC dining room to join Steve V. in singing to folks seated apart there. Not quite like our usual efforts but the tradition continues 23 years and counting!
In 2019 Caroling, we spread loads of Christmas cheer and song with about two dozen of us participating. We sang for almost 20 minutes to the full dining room at New England Club and then split into two groups to maximize the joy being spread – singing to groups at Mt. Washington Care Center, The Ashford plus several area member households. Afterwards many enjoyed fellowship, pizza and cookie eating.
From our recipients we received positive feedback at the time in the form of smiles, singing along and applause plus notes later including these comments:
- “we would like to thank you for organizing the Saturday evening of caroling: we thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship.”
- “Thanks to you and the carolers for the gift of beautiful music and an everlasting memory. It was wonderful!!! We were especially happy – – and proud – – to share your thoughtfulness with our son and his family (members of another denomination). On, on MWPC!!”

Another fabulous year of singing to many folks happened in 2017 with 24 or more of us in attendance. We sang for almost 20 minutes to the full dining room at New England Club and then split into two groups to maximize the joy being spread. Among other locations was one of the Forest Hills Care Center lobbies plus several households in the Mt. Washington and Anderson Township areas. Afterwards we had the largest percentage of carolers ever stick around for some pizza and cookie eating plus time for good fellowship! Here’s one picture of that gang
During joys and concerns time at NEC worship the following Sunday there was a joy expressed that our group had been there to sing. In fact, one of the women at worship said that it was the finest Christmas singing they had there this season. Not that we do this for such comments but it’s nice to know there are many who appreciate the efforts!

OVERVIEW
This event was begun in 1998 by the FATHERS Team (men’s group,) their families, plus Chapel Folk members. For the past several years we have started by meeting at New England Club and singing for the residents at 5 p.m.. Then we’re off to a few other Anderson Twp./Mt. Washington/Union Twp. locations, including some individuals’ homes. We are ordinarily done singing by 7 p.m., at which time we head out for pizza at a local establishment afterwards.
