Knitted Knockers

MWPC’sIn Stitches has found a new way to help by knitting. We heard of an organization called knittedknockers.org. Knitted “knockers” are breast prostheses used by women after a mastectomy. The national organization, headquartered in Washington D.C., receives requests for over 2000 every month! Recently, the group began knitting knockers to be used in Haiti to teach breast self-exam. In Stitches took up this challenge and hopes to send several dozen within the next few months. If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, we’d love to have your help. Patterns and preferred yarns are available at the website of the national organization knittedknockers.org. You can also visit that website if you or someone you know would like to request knockers. Questions or comments can be directed to the Church Office.
