SONG: Morning Has Broken
Morning has broken like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird
Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning!
Praise for them springing fresh from the Word!
Sweet the rain’s new fall sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where God’s feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play!
Praise with elation praise every morning,
God’s re-creation of the new day!
Luke 10:25-37
Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?” He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and you will live.”
But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him; and when I come back, I will repay you whatever more you spend.’ Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

SONG: I’ll Fly Away by Albert E. Brumley (1932)
I’ll Fly Away by Albert E. Brumley (1932)
Some glad morning when this life is o’er I’ll fly away.
To a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away.
When I die, hallelujah, by and by Oh, I’ll fly away.
Now’s the time to live like Jesus asks, I’ll fly today.
Do for others, shed our human masks, I’ll fly today.
I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away.
When I die, hallelujah, by and by Oh, I’ll fly away.
When the shadows of this life have grown, I’ll fly away.
Like a bird from prison bars have flown, I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away.
When I die, hallelujah, by and by Oh, I’ll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and then I’ll fly away.
To a land where joy shall never end, I’ll fly away.
I’ll fly away, O glory, I’ll fly away.
When I die, hallelujah, by and by Oh, I’ll fly away.
CLOSING (in unison:)
Friends, life is short and there is precious little time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us… So make haste to be kind, and be quick to love, for within every act of love and kindness, the God who first formed us, reforms and transforms us again and again, now and forever! And for that God’s people say: AMEN!
Go in peace, with love and courage, knowing it’s never too late!
