FeRoMo** Day!

Happy Mother’s Day.      Hmmm…    While appreciating the intent of Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May, it seems more fitting to celebrate all women who are wonderful examples to children (and adults) without regard to whether they’ve given physical birth to a child.

So… perhaps we go with “Thanks for Being a Fabulous FeRoMo**!” to all the important women in our lives?           Doesn’t “roll off the tongue,” in quite the same way, does it?

Yet, it seems important to express gratitude for the blessings of FeRoMos in our worlds, whether they have ever “birthed a baby.” Many of us have ~

  • birth mothers as wonderful early FeRoMos, whose influences continue to this day
  • wives who help shape us into better versions of ourselves
  • additional female family members who make wonderful impacts – sister(s), sister(s)-in-law, aunt(s), cousin(s), mother-in-law, niece(s)…
  • non-family members who are FeRoMos – friends, teachers, ministers, work colleagues, service workers, …

Recognition of these female role models is not to be gender stereotypical. Many of these women are the strongest, smartest, scientifically-sound and ________________ {fill in the blank with anti-stereotype words that come to your mind} folks around. We are grateful to you for your influences, our FeRoMos!

Which women come to your mind when thinking of folks who have helped shape your life? Is today ripe with opportunities to brighten their days by

  • arranging a visit?
  • sending a text message, email or card?
  • placing a phone call or videochat?
  • forwarding of this message with your personalized comments?
  • forwarding of the Helen Steiner Rice poem HERE which captures nice thoughts about women who care for us in special ways?
  • other special actions?

May we find ways to make these days refreshing and special for all women who are positive role models in our world…

Enjoy the day, filled with the Spirit!
